It’s time to shift our thoughts from the water falling from the sky to the water you and your kids will dive into this spring and summer at our local pools. At the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, preparation is already underway for activities and events your family will not want to miss like swim lessons, competitive swim and the Splash & Dash Egg Hunt.
Each year, kids and parents have a blast wading through the waterslide pool to collect colorful eggs bobbing on the surface of the water at the Splash &Dash Egg Hunt. The maximum age for our younger egg hunters is 10 years old, but parents are encouraged to be in the water with their children. No registration is required. The price of admission is non-perishable or canned food items, which will be brought to the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry. Come to the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway, on Saturday, April 15, starting at 10 a.m. for a fun twist on the traditional Easter egg hunt.
Online registration is still available for Junior Lifeguards, Competitive Stroke and Progressive Level classes. Each of these programs has limited capacity, so be sure to sign your kids up soon. The Santa Clarita Aquatic Center and City pools are eagerly preparing for the Splash & Dash Egg Hunt and spring programs in many ways; one of which is hiring lifeguards.
With my background in business, I understand the importance of finding quality employees who will embrace the goals of the employer as their own. The same principle is applied to recruiting summer lifeguards. We need individuals who will ensure the safety of pool visitors just as we strive to do for residents through the programs we implement throughout the community. The Santa Clarita Aquatic Center and other City pools attract countless visitors each summer, so it is essential that lifeguards are dependable and dedicated to perpetuating our high standard of service.
Individuals who are interested in applying will be required to submit an online application, swim 400 yards in less than 7 minutes and 30 seconds and tread water while holding a 10-pound brick, plus go through a traditional interview. Tryouts will be held March 11 from 9-11 a.m. Applicants must be 16 years old by June 1, 2017 to apply. If you are younger than 18, a parent or guardian must be present and you will be asked to provide proof of your age.
