On Friday September 9, in remembrance of 9/11, Cub Scout Pack 66 of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, performed a Flag retirement ceremony during the school’s morning assembly session in the parking lot.

It was a very solemn event that began with the lowering of the school’s current US Flag and retiring her in the fire pit set up. After a former Marine Corp bugler played “Taps,” the scouts then raised a new Flag while the bugler played “Morning Colors.”

The entire student body, the faculty, the church clergy, and about a hundred parents and bystanders were on hand for the wonderful tribute. Many tears were shed. Matthew Meyer spoke, while Nolan Byrd led the Color Guard with Ethan Vergara acting as the Flag bearer of the new Flag. Mrs. Amy Wong, a former Marine Corp bugler played Taps during the solemn event.
