A motorist pursued by California Highway Patrol officers from Inglewood to the Kern County line Wednesday afternoon blew through the Santa Clarita Valley without incident, said one of the local CHP officers called on to monitor and stay with the pursued driver.

“The suspect was driving relatively safely considering he did not appear to endanger the lives of people. He’s simply not stopping,” CHP Officer Eric Priessman moments after the car chase suspect traveled completely though the Santa Clarita Valley and across the Grapevine.

The suspect driver, in a silver-colored two-door Mercedes-Benz, was wanted by the CHP in connection with an incident in which a hotel room had been vandalized in Inglewood, Preissman said.

The motorist drove north on Interstate 5, across the San Fernando Valley, through the Newhall Pass and into the Santa Clarita Valley.

“We took it over once it came into our area,” he said about the pursuit which entered the SCV shortly after 4 p.m.

Once the fleeing motorist had traveled through the jurisdiction patrolled by CHP officers at the Newhall Station, officers in at the CHP’s Tejon station were notified.

“And, when he leaves Tejon’s area, we’ll notify Bakersfield CHP,” Priessman said.
