Los Angeles County is looking for a few good men … and women.

More than a few, actually – about 800.

Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan has put out the word that his office needs that many poll workers, county-wide, for the Nov. 8 general election.

Mike Sanchez, a spokesman for Logan’s office, said about 25,000 poll workers will be needed throughout L.A. County for elections covering everything from president of the United States to city councils to local school boards.

About 22,000 served during the primaries, he said.

“It’s not dire, but it’s still a somewhat large number” of workers still needed, he said Monday.

“We are still actively recruiting.”

There are two levels of Election Day poll workers – inspectors, who would earn $175 for the day, and clerks, who would pick up $105 for their efforts.

They would have to attend pre-election training.

Sanchez did not have specific data for the number needed in Santa Clarita, but did say, “We do have some hard-to-recruit areas, but Santa Clarita is not one of them.’’
