The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Santa Clarita dropped modestly in September, according to numbers released by an on-line rental firm.

Statistics compiled by ApartmentList.com put Santa Clarita eighth among areas cities that were ranked.

An average two-bedroom unit in Santa Clarita that cost $1,940 in August went for $1,930 in September, according to the website.

That compared to a $2,630 price tag for a two-bedroom in Los Angeles, $2,620 in Pasadena, $2,490 in Irvine, $2,420 in Glendale, $2,130 in Huntington Beach, $2,040 in Costa Mesa and $2,000 in Long Beach.

After Santa Clarita’s $1,930, Fullerton (at $1,890) and Anaheim (at $1,740) rounded out the top 10 among the area cities surveyed.

According to the website, rents in Los Angeles increased by 3.1 percent over the past year, compared to a nationwide increase of 2.1 percent.

Overall, rent prices went up 0.4 percent over August 2016 in Los Angeles, the website reported.

The priciest pads in L.A. were in the Westwood neighborhood, where two-bedroom apartments went for $4,170 and one-bedroom units for $3,160.

Among L.A, neighborhoods, Sherman Oaks recorded the biggest jump in rent from year to year — 11.0 percent over September 2015, according to the site’s data. An average two-bedroom in Sherman Oaks cost $2,430 in September, the site reported.
