Visiting the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will create a whole new set of frustrations for customers today.

The DMV first began experiencing major computer outages Monday, creating in-house technical difficulties and affecting computer operations at approximately 105 locations statewide Tuesday.

“Multiple DMV field offices are experiencing technical difficulties that may affect customer transactions,” the California DMV announced on its website Tuesday morning.  “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”

The Santa Clarita Valley DMV in Newhall is one of 105 locations still being worked on by crews to rebuild the system and get the office up and running.

As of Tuesday evening, the Newhall location, along with the 104 others, was still experiencing technical difficulties.

In an updated statement, the DMV said that it “anticipates all field offices to be up and running on Wednesday morning.”

Patrons visiting the Newhall location will still be able to take driving tests, schedule return appointments, file paperwork and ask questions, according to a statement from the DMV.

For items of importance, customers can still use the DMV’s online services on the organization’s website.

Those with problems are urged to call the DMV’s technical support services at 877-563-5213.
