Roselva Ungar: More de Bree, please

By Signal Contributor

Last update: Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

As an avid reader of The Signal and one who had hoped to see The Signal develop into the best paper of record for the third largest city in L.A. County, I have been discouraged lately with the positions the newspaper has taken in this important election.

The Oct. 19 Opinion piece by Jim De Bree has inspired my hope once again. In fact, the whole Oct. 19 Opinion page is right on target, in my opinion.

Please give us more Jim De Bree and less Brian Baker if The Signal aspires to be an example of good journalism to accompany us in this progressive community of Santa Clarita.

Is there anyone else you would like to censor comrade Ungar?

  • James de Bree

I am glad that you enjoyed my column.

    • Brian Baker

On the other hand, I’m crushed, I’m sure.

In all seriousness, when I’ve managed to PO the “progressive community of Santa Clarita” to this extent, I know I’m doing something right.

This paper’s published five days a week, and publishes regular columns on at least three of those days by their Dem/socialist regulars: Horton, Vignola, Zaring, Kraut and Buck.

But somehow or another that’s not good enough for lefty tyrants like Ungar, or her “progressive community”. I guess she wants the Signal to slap on a “Pravda” label and be done with it.

“… progressive community of Santa Clarita.”

    Proof, Ms. Ungar?

Also, Op-Eds aren’t “journalism”. They’re opinions from your fellow citizens or groups in Santa Clarita. Wouldn’t you agree that diversity in thought is conducive to reflection and robust discussion?

I’m pleased you find Jim de Bree’s columns congenial. I agree they’re well written and cogent. However, the quality of an Op-Ed isn’t determined by your agreement with its content.

  • Varying opinions is what the Op-ed section is for.

    • Brian Baker

Not per Ungar. She wants me exiled and shunned.

Yet another fine example of “progressive tolerance”.

Really… ya gotta laugh at these fools!
