Out-of-town couple arrested for robbery

An alleged shoplifting offense that turned into a scuffle with store staffers ended with the arrest of an out-of-town couple on suspicion of robbery.

The incident happened early Thursday morning at a store in Stevenson Ranch, Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Friday.

Christopher Welch, a 22-yeaer-old cook who lives in Carson, and Ranisha Sharu Chapple, 29, of Lynwood whose occupation was listed as “in homecare” on arrest papers, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Bail for each of the suspects was set at $50,000.
