Local sheriff’s deputies arrested three people on suspicion of burglary this past weekend, with the item most coveted in the weekend thefts being the stolen identities of the burglary victims.

At least one person was arrested on suspicion of  identity theft.

In an incident Saturday, deputies noticed a vehicle which had the wrong license plate, Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Monday.

“They conducted a stolen vehicle investigation and found that the driver, Crystal Harris, had been reported for vehicle embezzlement in another jurisdiction,” she said. “During a search of the stolen vehicle items of mail, credit cards and drug paraphernalia were located.”

Detectives contacted the identity theft victim, Cambra said. “He stated that the suspect did not have his permission to have any of his mail.”

Crystal Gayle Harris, 29, of Lawndale, was arrested on suspicion of identity theft.

One of three people arrested on suspicion of burglary in separate incidents was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant. Arrested was Shane Dunn, 23 of Castaic.

In another alleged burglary, the suspect entered a store and purchased items with a stolen credit card, Cambra said.

“He attempted to purchase more items but the card was declined,” she said. “He was arrested outside the store with several credit cards in different names.”

Marcus Buchanan, 46, of Los Angeles, was arrested for burglary.

In a third burglary, unrelated to the others, a suspect was caught stealing a television from a house which was vacant because the occupant had died, Cambra said.

Michael Maraget, 26, of Canyon Country, was arrested for burglary.
