Bryan Caforio

As a veteran, I know the kind of candidate it takes to tackle the issues that are important to service men and women.

Bryan Caforio is the right person for the 25th Congressional District because he will fight for veterans and make sure our interests are addressed in Congress.

Bryan understands the importance of the post-9/11 G.I. Bill. He will provide immediate access to the medical needs of returning veterans, and he wants to provide assistance to help transfer the skills that men and women gain in service into successful careers.

He is passionate about ending veteran homelessness. Most importantly, these are not just empty words; they are actions which he is committed to aggressively pursue by legislation.

Too often veterans are discharged and forgotten about; they are swept under the rug and pushed into the shadows. Bryan would ensure that veterans are protected after they are discharged the same way we protected the nation during our service.

It is important to provide adequate funding for the Veterans Administration so that veterans can get the quality support they deserve and need. Bryan Caforio believes in the critical importance of this funding and does not believe that the VA should be cut back to reduce federal spending.

There is an abundance of congressional voting records that show his opponent wants to cut VA spending to reduce federal spending. His opponent says he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with veterans, and at the same time the congressman votes to cut the VA budget and to cut other veteran benefits.

Bryan Caforio is a clear example that you do not need to be a veteran to fight for veterans’ issues, and I support Bryan Caforio because I know he will fight for us.

Caforio is a carpetbagging Westside shyster who has barely lived here a year, having moved here just before the deadline to qualify for a run for this office. The vast majority of his funding is from the state and national Dem/socialist political machine, NOT local sources. He doesn’t know squat about us or our issues. He’s never been elected to any public office.

    He’s just a sock-puppet for the Obama/Clinton cabal.

Steve, on the other hand, is a native son to this district. His dad, Pete, served us as state representative and state Senator, and Steve served in his dad’s former Assembly seat. He has a long record of public service, including in the state Assembly and Senate, as a cop, and yes, as an Army veteran. He knows us and knows our issues, and as a vet himself knows veteran issues and fights for vets, contrary to the cynical lies and insinuations being put forth by the Caforio camp.

I support Steve Knight because I know he will fight for us, and against the radical left political agenda promoted by the outsiders paying for Caforio’s campaign.

    • “Caforio is a carpetbagging Westside shyster who has barely lived here a year, having moved here just before the deadline to qualify for a run for this office.” ::::::::: A: Why the name calling? B: Why does that matter? Perhaps he moved here at the behest of us “locals” because we are tired, exasperated, and, if I’m being honest, embarrassed to have a Tea Party extremist as my representative in Congress. (BTW Legally, he didn’t even have to move here to run for this office. If that were the case, I’d let the ‘carpetbagger’ thing go.) Just to clarify: Caforio is NOT a carpetbagger or a shyster, but the Westside claim is true: he apparently lives in Valencia: the “Westside” of the SCV.

“He’s never been elected to any public office.” ::::::: Neither has Trump, but that doesn’t seem to bother 75% of Republicans.
“The vast majority of his funding is from the state and national Dem/socialist political machine, NOT local sources. He doesn’t know squat about us or our issues.” ::::::::::: A: Not true. B: Steve Knight sneaking Paul Ryan in for secret fundraisers doesn’t qualify as utilizing political machines?

“He’s just a sock-puppet for the Obama/Clinton cabal.” :::::: Well, that’s just stupid and not worth a rebuttal.

“Steve, on the other hand, is a native son to this district. His dad, Pete, served us as state representative and state Senator, and Steve served in his dad’s former Assembly seat. He has a long record of public service, including in the state Assembly and Senate, as a cop, and yes, as an Army veteran. He knows us and knows our issues, and as a vet himself knows veteran issues and fights for vets, contrary to the cynical lies and insinuations being put forth by the Caforio camp.”:::::::: I’m a vet, too. I have yet to see Steve Knight fight for me even ONCE. In fact, every time he voted to let the government shut down over passing a budget agreement or CR, he put my Veterans Benefits in jeopardy. Not appreciated. As a fellow Army vet, I expected him to be better for us when I voted for him 2 years ago, but he has let me down by showing his true Tea Party colors in Congress. Also, just so we’re clear: Pete Knight isn’t on our ballot, so his achievements mean nothing. Isn’t Steve Knight’s experience in politics EXACTLY what got Trump the GOP nomination? Why is it a qualifier for one and not the other? I really don’t care what Knight did before Congress. I cared 2 years when comparing him and Tony Strickland. Now, I only care about what he’s done since being our representative. He has been a massive failure. I mean, how does one sit on the House Science Committee while representing a CA desert community going through a major drought and water restrictions and DENY the existence of climate change? That’s not a guy who will EVER get my vote again.

“I support Steve Knight because I know he will fight for us, and against the radical left political agenda promoted by the outsiders paying for Caforio’s campaign.” ::::::: He doesn’t appear to fight for anyone, he just adheres to the party line every time. You might call him a sock-puppet for the Ryan/McConnell cabal—hey, look at that… I did have a response to that after all. LOL

      • Brian Baker

        “LOL” is right.

A regurgitation of all the SOP Dem/socialist BS rhetorical talking points.

        Congrats, I’m sure.

        • nuh-uh….

None of what I wrote was a regurgitation of anything. Sorry (not really, but it’s polite to say) if you don’t AGREE with me, and it’s clear you don’t, but I merely state my OWN opinions based on my OWN research of the candidates, up to and including paying constant attention to my congressman and how he votes, the things they have BOTH said at debates, veterans round tables, and even walking into their offices, shaking their hands, and asking my own questions. (The key here is listening when they answer).
After suffering years of McKeon representation (you can go ahead and tear me up for that one, too, but I suggest you don’t- unless you are also a vet who got kicked out of school because of a government shutdown), I had hoped Steve Knight would be better. I was just wrong, that’s all.

I fail to see how being personally disappointed by Knight is an SOP DEM/socialist talking point.
Also, my personal opinions are not BS.
Also, my personal experiences are not rhetorical.
But thanks for letting me know that my opinion means somehow less than yours, tuff stuff.

          • Brian Baker

“None of what I wrote was a regurgitation of anything.”

You just keep telling yourself that. I’m sure you’ll be able to convince one person: yourself.

    • “You’ll manage to convince only one person”
You’d be incorrect about that, sport. I can convince a great many people of a great many things. I’m actually quite charming.

“You just keep telling yourself that”…
Hmmm… I’m not the type to go into a feminist tirade here, but just for your edification, you might be interested to know that when you say that to a woman, it’s often taken as code for “keep your opinions to yourself, little lady”. Just sayin’. You might want to consider your audience before you use that one.

I, on the other hand, have a different take on that particular turn of phrase. Having spent the better part of the 90’s in the Army as a female, I heard that a lot, often in the same respect you just used it toward me. I tend to take it to mean that one has no actual retort left, but would like to make it appear as though they’ve won some kind of argument and are ending it gracefully.
Except, it’s not graceful and it rarely ends an argument/discussion/debate, at least where I am concerned. I have the best words and a good brain. Come at me, bro.

The issue I take with you is that you just can’t, or so it appears, let anyone with a perspective that differs from yours have their say. Take Arnold Sisk, for example. Here is a Vietnam vet, who served his country, then likely returned home to face the scorn that many Vietnam vets did (maybe even yourself?). He wrote a detailed piece about how he alone, as a veteran, felt about Bryan Caforio. You just couldn’t let him have it, could you? He has clearly done his homework on Caforio and has decided that Bryan Caforio is the best choice for his needs as a vet. How could you possibly condescend to his choice of Bryan Caforio as somehow incorrect? Your instant response was to heap more scorn on him and others simply because you choose to back a different horse. Did it ever dawn on you that some people might actually appreciate Mr. Sisk’s thoughts? Maybe even AGREE with them? Why was it necessary for you to throw shade and belittle anyone who deigns to hold a viewpoint different from yours?

I regret to inform you (that’s a fib, I am actually fairly amused by all this) that our district is turning bluer and bluer every year. That’s not an opinion, it’s an actual fact. Resistance is futile….you will be assimilated.

I do sincerely hope Mr. Caforio bests Rep. Knight in 5 days. In fact, you’ve inspired me. I intend to spend ALL of my free time in the next 5 days volunteering for Mr. Caforio and talking to my friends and neighbors about him. I may even stand outside grocery stores and tell people about him. I doubt that’s the end result you were looking for when you decided to discount the personal experiences of a veteran and the needs she has for her elected officials and tag them all as Dem/Socialist talking points. Even so, your rapid devolution into petty, fact-free, name-calling insults have inspired me to make sure Mr. Caforio gets as many votes as possible. So, yeah…..well done there.
Look on the bright side, buttercup. When Bryan Caforio wins the election, we can enjoy some good representation in DC and you can go right-wing batnuts on your blog about how terrible he is. Everybody wins. After all, Barack Obama was the best thing that ever happened to Glenn Beck’s career, right?

      See?….Everybody wins.

      Love, Gretchen

      • My, look at that big ole chip on the little lady’s shoulder.

      • Gretch: “I regret to inform you … that our district is turning bluer and bluer every year. That’s not an opinion, it’s an actual fact. ”

Hows that working out for ya toots?

      • tech

“Hmmm… I’m not the type to go into a feminist tirade here…”

And then you proceeded to do exactly… what?

“Look on the bright side, buttercup. When Bryan Caforio wins the election, we can enjoy some good representation in DC and you can go right-wing batnuts on your blog about how terrible he is. Everybody wins.”

        Everybody?

  • dukie

As a veteran I thank you for your service, but you don’t know crap about what makes a good candidate.

    • noonan

Very astute analysis Dukie. I’m sure you extend that opinion to everyone who might disagree with you on a candidate. What’s next, your dad beating up my dad?

  • Yusef Nazarian

Caforio will do nothing for this community and is a fraud.

Any SCV residents who vote for him betray their own interests.

    • tech

      Prescient, sir.

  • dukie

Noonan, you criticize my post but add even less to the discussion. Dad fights? Are you about 5 years old?

    • I’ve given it some thought and decided that it would be near impossible to add less to this discussion than your previous post.
