Homicide detectives are looking into the stillborn delivery of an infant inside a Castaic home Wednesday night.
Shortly after 7 p.m. a 911 call was made from inside a home north of Hasley Canyon Road and east of Gibraltar Lane, south of Cambridge Avenue, emergency response officials told The Signal.
“We received the call as a pediatric cardiac arrest,” Inspector Richard Licon of the Los Angeles County Fire Department told The Signal Thursday afternoon.
“The mother and child were taken to the hospital where the child was pronounced (dead),” he said.
Because the delivery was inside a home as opposed to a hospital, detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau were called to investigate, Sgt. Tim O’Quinn told The Signal.
“An autopsy is to be done in the next few days,” he said. “Sadly this was a stillborn birth. And, anytime we have a stillborn birth outside the hospital we are notified.”
O’Quinn described the house as clean, noting he and his team conducted a normal investigation.
“Our job is mainly to see what conditions existed at the time of delivery,” he said.
