A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Glendale Monday afternoon, causing train cancellations and delays for commuters traveling along the Antelope Valley (AV) lines.

According to the Glendale Police Department, the male pedestrian was hit by Amtrack train 774 before noon at San Fernando Road and Doran Street.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Metrolink spokeswoman Sherita Coffelt said the incident occurred between Metrolink’s Glendale and Burbank stations.

Investigations into the crash impacted several lines throughout Metrolink’s network including AV Lines 211, 213, 214 and 218, which were canceled or redirected.

The AV and Ventura County (VC) lines were being investigated and cleared throughout Monday afternoon by officials.

Those on canceled trains to Los Angeles, Burbank and Via Princessa were transported via Transit System buses, according to Coffelt.

“At this moment we have buses going back and forth between transfers,” she said.

Metrolink hoped the buses would resume normal operations “soon,” but did not have an exact time estimate early Monday afternoon.
