More than half a dozen armed officers of the Los Angeles Police Department descended on a house in the neighborhood around Camp Plenty Thursday morning, alarming some residents.

Shortly before 8 a.m. LAPD officers, some reportedly with guns drawn, surrounded a house on a cul-de-sac near Camp Plenty Road and Carvel Drive, according to one woman who said the scene surprised her as she walked her 12-year-old son to school.

Residents began their day to the sound of helicopters overhead and sirens on the street.

The out-of-town cops were carrying out a warrant to search a particular residence, one LAPD sergeant told The Signal at the scene, but would not share any further information.

The sergeant said there was no threat to public safety, describing the secretive operation as “sensitive.”

It was not revealed what they were after or the identity of the resident.

“I know they were there conducting a search warrant,” Sgt. Sam Soehnel of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said Thursday. “I don’t know anything about it.”
