A Valencia man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly striking woman on the head with a metal baseball bat.

Jeffrey David Eyzaguirre, who turned 31 years old last month, was arrested by local sheriff’s deputies shortly after 8 a.m. Monday.

A woman suffered head injuries at a residence on Saint Moritz Drive, a cul-de-sac west of McBean Parkway and about a quarter mile north of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

“About 7:30 in the morning, the suspect came to the victim’s home trying to reach a family member,” Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Tuesday.

The suspect was told that the person he asked about was not there.

“The suspect then broke into the home and struck the victim with a large metal object,” Cambra said.

The injured woman ran to a neighbor who assisted her, she said.

“The victim was treated,” said Cambra, describing the woman’s injuries as moderate.

Paramedics were dispatched at 7:46 a.m. to a home on the 24000 block of Saint Moritz Drive for reports of assault and abuse, Inspector Richard Licon of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said Tuesday.

They arrived at a house at the end of the cul-de-sac shortly before 8 a.m.

“This was for a female adult who was hit in the head with a bat,” Licon said.

Eyzaguirre was taken into custody with bail set at $1 million.

He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Wednesday, arrest records show.
