In 2012 with a total of 16 players, a golf tournament was started by Santa Clarita resident Jim Biby along with his son Matthew. That event has now grown to a field of 88 players.  It has become an annual tradition and every December former Hart greats and residents of the Santa Clarita Valley are loaded into private chartered buses and taken out to Fillmore for a day of golf.

Sadly, last year the tradition became a ‘memorial’ tournament after the passing of Jim Biby.

Jim Biby was a long time business owner in the Santa Clarita Valley; he was co-owner of Santa Clarita Mortuary along with his father James Biby Sr. and was the General Manager at Eternal Valley Memorial Park for a number of years during his time with Service Corporation International.

“My father constantly placed family and friends above all else and it was his driving force in life and considered it his number one priority.  He supported thousands of families during his time in the mortuary business. Those families now come out every year to support a tradition my father and I started,” says son Matthew Biby.

Local businesses that have come out to show their support include: Joe Caso of Frontier Toyota; Joe Comella of Final Score Sandwich Shop; Laina McFerren of Wolf Creek Brewery; Steve Lemley of Pulchella Winery; and Jason Goss of Unruh Spine Center.

Notable Hart High School Alumni that also participate are: Kevin Ciccone, Hart High School ‘04 Football; Chris Ciccone, Hart High School ‘99 Football; Jared Bazar, Hart High School ‘99 Football; Devin Del do’, Hart High School ‘04 Soccer; Sean Norton, Hart High School ‘04 Football; Ryan Haag, Hart High School ‘99 Baseball; Matt Ryan, Hart High School ‘04 Golf; Chris Steck, Hart High School ‘01 Football; and Stephen Wright, Valencia High School ’03.
