Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who appears to have suffered a heart attack at a community pool in Saugus Tuesday.

Emergency response officials received reports of an unresponsive man shortly before 3:30 p.m. of an unresponsive man near a hot tub at a pool maintained by a homeowners association in the River Village neighborhood, east of Newhall Ranch Road.

“Homicide has been called,” Sgt. Dan Dantice told The Signal.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau are notified as a matter of protocol, Dantice said.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched at 3:25 p.m. to the 22,000 block of Barrington Way, between Fairfield Way and Lexington Lane.
