My name is Luis Ocampo. As a College of the Canyons student who is active in civic engagement and service-learning, it is important for me to see that we take care of our veterans.
I recently learned that we have a Santa Clarita Valley Fallen Warriors Monument approved, and I couldn’t be more happy to hear we have a monument for our veterans. I also agree that we should extend the covering of the planned Fallen Warriors Monument and add more lighting for it during the night.
It is also important that we mention those 50 fallen warriors from the Santa Clarita Valley who fought and died in battles from World War II to present-day wars.
Therefore, I urge all residents who are part of the SCV to speak out and make sure that we do the monument justice by having it be completed the way those fallen warriors deserved.
