I would like to thank Michele E. Buttelman for her kind way of reminding me I did not prevail in obtaining a position on the Santa Clarita City Council (“Signal misses call on council actions,” Dec. 22).

At the same time, I would like to remind her, while informing The Signal’s readers, at the last City Council meeting I did not advocate for a special election or a citizen selection panel.

I used my three minutes to support the voice of the people and suggest the council appoint the individual with the third highest vote count in our recent City Council election, Mr. TimBen Boydston.

I applaud The Signal editorial staff for taking positions on important issues, no matter if I agree with them or not. Constant dialog and honest conversation is the hallmark of a vibrant democracy. Calling another’s ideas “noxious nonsense,” as Ms. Buttelman did, is truly “repugnant.”
