A head-on traffic collision in Castaic Tuesday sent one person to hospital with injuries and prompted another to run from the scene of what is now being investigated as a hit and run crash.

The two-car crash that happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the Lake Hughes Road on-ramp to the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, an officer with the California Highway Patrol said.

A black Ford Mustang and a grey Toyota Corolla collided, prompting the closure of the Lake Hughes on-ramp.

“We transported one person to the hospital,” Fire Department Inspector Melanie Flores told The Signal.

The driver from one of the vehicles, according to motorists contacting the CHP, who wore all black clothing ran from the crash.

CHP officers received reports from more than one motorist that the hit-and-run driver was seen running towards The Old Road.
