At least two of the four teen boys arrested in connection with the stabbing of a convenience store clerk during a robbery in Valencia Tuesday were transferred Wednesday to a secure juvenile detention facility in Sylmar.

The victim, meanwhile, who fought with robbers stealing beer and cigarettes from the Circle K store on McBean Parkway at Decoro Drive at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, was reported to be recovering in the hospital 36 hours after the attack.

“His surgery went well and he is recovering,” the man’s wife told The Signal Wednesday.

“He’s ex-military, an ex-policeman, and we’ve received a lot of support,” she said, noting the couple has received more than 400 messages of condolence on their website.

The wounded clerk, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered stab wounds described by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station as “non-life-threatening.”

“Thank God the perpetrators are off the street,” said his aunt, who contacted The Signal from New Jersey on Wednesday.

The alleged juvenile perpetrators were each arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of robbery and attempted murder when deputies in more than a dozen cruisers descended on a residential neighborhood street on Woodfield Place, about 200 feet from where the robbery and stabbing occurred.

On Wednesday, at least two of those suspects was taken to Sylmar Juvenile Hall, said Lt. Bryan Aguilera.

“We did transport some of them today to Sylmar,” he said, noting the suspects fall under the care and concern of the Los Angeles County Probation Department since they are juveniles.

A check with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office revealed that no case has yet been submitted to prosecutors for review.

“We don’t have anything,” DA spokesman Greg Risling said Wednesday.

Detectives with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station’s Career Offenders, Burglary, and Robbery Apprehension (COBRA) unit are still investigating the incident.
