Emergency officials responded to a call regarding a dirt bike crash in Castaic on Sunday, requiring one to be air-lifted by helicopter to a local hospital, officials said.
“We got the call at 3:42 p.m.,” Supervisor Cheryl Sims with L.A. County Fire said. “It was a dirt bike crash, just past the animal shelter.”
“There was someone on a dirt bike that had crashed at the back of the canyon and we had to air lift them to Henry Mayo,” Fire Captain Todd Garvey said.
The incident occurred on Charlie Canyon Road and Tapia Canyon Road in Castaic.
A helicopter arrived on scene at 4:15 p.m. for a hoist rescue.
“We had to use our four wheel drive patrol to make access with out paramedic and then we had to call an air squad to airlift him out,” Garvey said.
“The engine and the ambulance couldn’t make it back there.”
