Woman killed in solo vehicle crash

An unnamed woman was killed as a result of injuries sustained during a solo-vehicle collision along Smyth Drive and North Dickason Drive early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at 4:39 a.m. when the female driver, whose identity and age have not been disclosed, crashed into a light pole.

Paramedics were dispatched to the crash at 4:45 a.m. where they transported the female driver to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Spokeswoman Vanessa Lozano.

The woman later succumbed to her injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital early Wednesday morning, according to Sgt. Courtland Myers of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The female driver was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Hospital at approximately 0519 hours [5:19 a.m.],” Myers said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
