Opportunities for Learning (OFL) Public Charter Schools officially welcomed students, staff and community members to its new Canyon Country center Friday.

The center, now located at 18824 Soledad Canyon Rd., was moved to accommodate the school’s growing enrollment and increased support services.

Peggy Wilson, enrollment and outreach specialist for Santa Clarita Valley/Ventura OFL Public Charter Schools, said the organization realized two years ago that it needed not only more space, but also updated space.

“More staff in specialized fields have been added for student support and the room was getting tight with resource teachers, continuing enrollment and summer school,” she said.

In addition to a modernized building, the new center offers improved parking, additional classrooms for small group instruction and access to bus stops.

The center also added laptops, Chromebooks and other educational tools to the facility to give students access to more technology.

“This space offers more inviting areas that create a larger learning environment,” Wilson said.

These areas create quiet corners for test completions, additional work areas and desks for traveling staff and spaces for private and confidential meetings.

“Students and their families have more room to meet with teachers and support staff,” Wilson said.
