Santa Clarita rent prices continued to climb after taking a brief break last month, according to Apartment List, Inc.
With the median price of a one bedroom apartment at $1,730 and the median price of a two bedroom at $2,000 for March, local rents jumped 4.7 percent over last month, making it eighth on the list of ten reported cities in the greater Los Angeles market.
The year-to-year price increase for Santa Clarita is 2.3 percent, placing the city seventh out of ten in terms of yearly percentage increase out of the L.A. metropolitan cities reported on.
“As always, our goal is to provide price transparency to America’s 105 million renters to help them make the best possible decisions in choosing a place to call home,” Apartment List’s site reads.
Apartment List showed the state of California as a whole experienced rent growth of 3.2 percent compared to last year.
Pasadena is again rated as the most expensive in the area, with the median price of a one bedroom at $2,160 and $2,720 for a two bedroom, with a month to month price increase of 1.0 percent and year to year increase of 3.2 percent.
Los Angeles is listed as the second most expensive for a two bedroom at $2,700 and $1,920 for a one bedroom, equating to a 2.0 percent price increase since last month and 2.4 percent since last year.
Garden Grove had the largest year-to-year price increase at 7.9 percent, and a monthly change of 4.7 percent. However, the city still has the lowest overall rent costs out of the ten listed with $1,510 for a one bedroom and $1,740 for a two bedroom.
Long Beach also had a significant yearly percentage increase at 7.8 percent, placing it second on the year-to-year increase, though its monthly increase was 2.6 percent. The city is listed sixth out of ten at $2,100 for two rooms and $1,400 for one room.
Glendale, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and Anaheim were also on the list among the most expensive places to rent in the area.
