A vehicle traveling on Bouquet Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest went off the side of the road and fell 15 feet down into a riverbed, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.

Luckily, an off-duty firefighter was close by to assist the driver in escaping the overturned car.

“The vehicle went over the side 15 feet down, but the patient was able to get out,” said Supervisor Cheryl Sims with L.A. County Fire.

“There was an off-duty Pasadena firefighter who was there to help get her out,” Captain Roland Sprewell with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The driver, described as a young woman, suffered only minor injuries.

“She came out relatively unscathed and went to the hospital for checkup,” Sprewell said.

The call went out to fire officials at 12:54 p.m.
