To provide an update on the 2014 film and television tax credit he coauthored, Senator Scott Wilk held a hearing Thursday in light of increased filming occurring in Santa Clarita and California as a whole.

Before the tax credit was put in place, many television and film productions were leaving California in search of more “business-friendly” locations, Wilk said at the legislature’s joint Committee on the Arts meeting.

“We’ve seen thousands of jobs return to California as a direct response to our program,” Wilk said in a statement. “This momentous tax credit has helped the film industry believe that legislators in Sacramento are willing to do what it takes to ensure the entertainment sector continues to prosper as a driving economic force in this state. I look forward to our continued success and I’m committed to making the next iteration of the credit even better than our current one.”

Netflix show ‘The Santa Clarita Diet,’ HBO series ‘Ballers,’ film ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ and several commercials are all being filmed in the valley.
