Now that spring is in full bloom, families are on the hunt for the Easter Bunny, and they can spend an egg-citing day with him by simply hopping to the beach for Ventura Harbor’s Cottontail Day Festival. All ages are invited to this family-friendly celebration on April 8, weather permitting, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ventura Harbor Village on the Village Lawn.

Moms, dads and kids can enjoy activities including Easter egg hunts, a petting zoo, hands-on arts and crafts and children’s entertainment. The Cottontail Day festivities give children a chance to take a photo or grab a hug with the Cottontail Bunny.

The egg hunts, held every 30 minutes from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., are geared toward children ages 1-7. The cost to participate is $2 and includes a free coloring book while supplies last. Kids that find a “Golden Egg” get to hop away with extra prizes. There is also a Village Scavenger Hunt at the festival, where clues will lead guests to a Hoppy Surprise.

Other activities include: pony rides, petting zoo, glitter tattoos, face painting, tumbling fun with MyGym, live children’s entertainment by Jamie Shaheen, the Village Arcade & Carousel, pedal boats, ice cream, and family-oriented vendor booths. Visitors can stretch their imaginations through a variety of free children’s crafts provided by Harbor Village Gallery, Macaroni Kid, and Lakeshore Learning Store. Sponsors of the event include City Corps Ventura, The Greek at the Harbor, Ventura Breeze, and Cumulus Broadcasting. For Cottontail Day there is free parking and free admission.

Santa Clarita Valley residents catch beach town relaxation and unique shopping options at Ventura Harbor Village all year round. There are two beaches located nearby — Harbor Cove and Surfer’s Knoll, where you can get a view of the Channel Islands and also collect sea glass.

Harbor-view restaurants offer atmosphere and fine food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Village boutiques offer on-trend designs, and there is shopping for spring décor, kites to fly, and spring break style necessities. The Village Arcade has family games, plus harbor cruises and boat rentals are available if you want to explore. A variety of treats are available in charming shops, some just in time for Easter, such as homemade fudge.
