A 47-year-old Saugus electrician was arrested this week on suspicion of kidnapping for allegedly dragging his wife into a car.

Shawn Hamaski was arrested Wednesday morning by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station after they responded to the area of McBean Parkway at Copperhill Drive regarding a possible kidnapping.

“They initiated a stop of a vehicle that matched the description of the alleged suspect’s car,” Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Thursday.

“The victim and suspect are husband and wife. The suspect insisted the victim get in the car but she refused.”

“The suspect reportedly became verbally aggressive and the victim began running away from their residence,” Miller said.

“The suspect got into his vehicle and pulled in front of the victim and forcibly dragged the victim to the car.  She attempted to exit the car and run, but the suspect grabbed her and again dragged her to the car.”

“A bystander witnessed the incident as the victim yelled for help,” Miller said.

“The suspect was arrested for Domestic Assault and Kidnapping.”

Hamski remains in custody with bail set at $100,000.

He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Friday.
