UPDATE: Firefighters make quick work of brush fire near Newhall Pass

Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire that was just south of San Fernando Road and one-quarter north of Balboa Boulevard.

The fire was reported at 1:28 p.m. and burned three-quarters of an acre before it was 100 percent contained by 2:07 p.m.

“The fire is out (and there) is no injuries,” said Brian Humphrey with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was caused by downed power lines according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

California Highway Patrol officers shut down southbound San Fernando Road at the entrance to Sunshine Canyon Landfill for about two hours.

No structures were threatened in the fire.
