A dad driving through Canyon Country last month with his wife and their two young kids had the family car shot up in an act of apparent road rage, prompting a probe by detectives and search warrant carried out Tuesday.

No one was hurt in the shooting, Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Tuesday.

Detectives with the Career Offender Burglary/Robbery Apprehension (COBRA) unit, however, have not stopped investigating the shooting, she said in a news release issued Tuesday about the incident.

That probe culminated in a search warrant executed Tuesday on a Canyon Country residence on Hidden Oak Place.

The shooting happened on March 27 on the 17000 block of Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country.

Deputies were immediately dispatched to the shooting location for an incident they began treating as an assault with a deadly weapon.

“In a case of possible road rage, an unknown suspect fired two rounds at a families’ vehicle when he was unable to pass their car and merge into their lane,” Miller said.

“The victim was driving eastbound on Soledad Canyon Road with his wife and two young children, ages 5 and 8, when the incident occurred,” she said.

The gunman’s vehicle was described as a black Lincoln SUV.

Through investigative work and tips from the community, detectives were able to pinpoint the location of a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle, Miller said in her news release.

On Tuesday morning, COBRA detectives served a search warrant at a Canyon Country residence on Hidden Oak Place.

The black Lincoln SUV on the premises of the property was deemed to be the vehicle used in the crime, Miller said.

The vehicle was towed from the location and booked as evidence. Detectives will continue investigating this crime until an arrest is made.
