Two trauma patients were taken to the hospital in stable condition after a single-vehicle traffic collision in Valencia on Saturday.

The traffic collision was reported on the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp from the Northbound Interstate 5.

A Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor said two people were trapped, and had to be extricated from the collision.

According to Harry Perez, a captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department who was at the scene of the collision, the car was wrapped around the tree making the extrication process difficult.

“When we arrived on seen there was one vehicle overturned that crashed into a tree,” he said

Units were on scene for over an hour working to free the two people.

“We requested a USR (urban search and rescue) and a heavy rescue unit to lift the car up and away from the tree,” said Perez.

According to an officer with The Traffic Management Center, a SigAlert was issued at 3:02 p.m. and the number one lane of the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp was closed. The SigAlert was canceled at 4:22 p.m.

The traffic collision occurred at 2:14 p.m.
