An off-roading enthusiast was injured and airlifted to the hospital Saturday afternoon following a collision that involved a motorcycle and another vehicle near Gorman.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched shortly after 4:05 p.m. Saturday to the entrance of the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreational Area, near Smokey Bear Road just west of Interstate 5.

Shortly before 4:55 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol were “coordinating” with fire officials to have a rescue helicopter land near the off-roading facility, CHP Officer Alex Rubio told The Signal.

The rescue helicopter was on its way to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with one patient shortly before 5 p.m.

Fire crews from two fire stations in the Santa Clarita Valley responded to the incident.

No information was available on the condition of the injured cyclist’s injuries.
