Deputies with Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Special Assignment Team (SAT) conducted a parole sweep of individuals “on parole for violent crimes” throughout the valley Thursday night.

SAT deputies checked in on four parolees, who were all identified as gang members, in Newhall, Canyon Country and Val Verde, according to Sgt. Mike Konecny of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.  The fifth parolee the deputies checked on was not home.

All four individuals—on parole for crimes like robbery, murder and assault with a deadly weapon—were determined not to be in violation of their parole.

“They checked out good,” Konecny said.

Konecny said the Special Assignment Team regularly checks on parolees in the area and tries to do parole sweeps a couple times each month.

“We want to make sure that if we have parolees living in SCV—they are heeding the conditions of their parole,” the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station wrote on its Facebook page.
