Firefighters showed their skill and expertise when they extinguished a brush fire near Castaic Lake in approximately 15 minutes.

Named the “Lake Fire,” the brush fire broke out on North Lake Hughes Road and North Ridge Route Road at 2:35 p.m.  Firefighters were on scene about one minute later.

The call initially came in with a fire in a 20 by 20 spot, but was later increased to a 100 by 100 spot, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters were able to contain the brush fire at its larger size and draw a line around the flames at 2:50 p.m.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened as a result of the fire.
