Valencia Country Club will honor emergency first responders and members of the military on Sept. 11.
The First Responders Tournament and Evening of Remembrance will begin at 11:30 A.M. with a shotgun start.
Participants must be active or retired police officers, firefighters, EMTs, or members of the military.
“I’m married to a City of Los Angeles paramedic firefighter, so this event is close to my heart,” said Missy Carter, Valencia Country Club’s director of membership and marketing. “September 11 is a day we’ll never forget, and we wanted to recognize the incredible work our first responders and military do for every one of us every day.”
The $90 entry fee includes lunch and dinner, and the event will include a hole-in-one contest, long drive competition, and a raffle.
First prize is a one-year golf membership at the country club for an active or retired first responder or member of the military.
“Each raffle entry will be put on a golf ball, and we’re bringing in an L.A. County hook and ladder firetruck,” Carter said. “It will drop all the balls on the 18th green, and the ball that ends up closest to the hole will be the winner.”
The $25 dinner, which starts at 5 P.M., is open to the public. Evening events include live music, an awards presentation, a bounce house for the kids, and a Touch-a-Truck event.
