Every year from mid-July to late August, debris in outer space cross paths with Earth. This space debris is a result of the comet “Swift-Tuttle”.
If you look towards the Perseus constellation, you can see what is known as the Perseid meteor shower.
The shower was set to peak on Aug. 11 and Aug. 12, drawing residents from all over LA County to the dark corners of Templin Highway in Castaic.
Dozens of cars parked along the pitch black highway to get as far away from light pollution as possible.
The best viewing times came in the early hours of the night prior to the moon rising.
The Perseid meteor shower served as a warm-up for star gazers as the much anticipated solar eclipse approaches on August 21.
