The Santa Clarita Valley witnessed multiple traffic collisions over the night and early Saturday morning resulting in two overturned vehicles. Fortunately no one was reported trapped or injured.
One collision came around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday after a vehicle collided with the center divider and overturned on the Northbound Highway 14 south of Newhall Avenue, according to Officer Stephan Brandt with California Highway Patrol.
“We responded and determined it to be a solo-vehicle property damage,” said Brandt.
Brandt says it looks like no one was transported to the hospital in that collision. The car was still able to drive to the shoulder of the highway after flipping.
“I’ve seen a few (vehicles) flip several times and be able to drive so it’s hard to tell,” said Brandt. “It must have not been too bad of a flip.”
No arrests were made in that collision. Four units with the L.A. County Fire Department responded to that collision as well as two units with L.A. City Fire.
Another collision occurred after a truck hit a tree and overturned near Northpark Drive and McBean Parkway around 3:10 a.m. No one was trapped and no one was transported to the hospital as a result of the that collision as well, according to L.A. County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.
“We just had four units (respond), the truck, the engine, the squad, and the (battalion chief),” she said. “It doesn’t look (anyone) was transported.”
The other collision occurred around 8:46 p.m. near Via Princessa and Jason Drive. Four L.A. County Fire units responded to that collision: a squad, an engine, a battalion chief and a truck. It is unclear if anyone was injured or transported to the hospital in that collision.
Fortunately, the SCV Sheriff’s Station is putting in time and effort to make sure drivers in SCV travel safely. On Friday, sheriffs issued 38 citations, 37 of which were for excessive speed.
