All seven Foothill League teams taking part in the CIF-Southern Section cross country preliminaries on Friday and Saturday at Riverside Cross Country Course, along with Trinity Classical Academy, advanced to the finals.
Teams competing in a division with three heats needed a top-eight finish to move on while teams in divisions with two heats needed to finish in the top 12 of its heat. Individuals on non-qualifying teams had to finish in the top 15 in two-heat divisions and in the top 10 for three-heat divisions to advance.
The CIF-SS cross country finals will take place on Nov. 18 at Riverside Cross Country Course.
CIF-Southern Section Division 1 Boys Preliminaries
The Vikings punched their ticket to the CIF-SS finals with a sixth-place finish in their heat.
Britain Reynolds (14 minutes, 57.8) seconds finished fourth in the team’s heat and Gage Davenport (15:20.20) finished 15th.
Gefen Shachar (15:38.4) was the final Valencia runner to finish in the top 50 of its heat, coming in 34th place.
CIF-Southern Section Division 3 Boys Preliminaries
The Centurions finished second in their heat, led by a 12th-place finish from Albert Serrano (15:37.2).
Boon Andrews (15:37.3) was right on Serrano’s heals with a 13th-place finish and Jacob Kauffman (15:37.8) and Juan Enciso (15:38.3) were directly behind Andrews, finishing 14th and 15th, respectively.
Blake Gallardo (15:58.4) finished in 21st place.
The Wildcats, who finished first in the Foothill League finals, also finished second in their heat.
Isaiah Seidman led the team with a fifth-place finish (15:19.3) with teammate Preston Pope (15:21.6) in sixth place. Pope, who signed his National Letter of Intent to run at Oklahoma earlier this week, placed first in the Foothill League finals.
Evan Bates (15:28.2) gave West Ranch its third top-10 finish in its heat, coming in eighth place.
The Cowboys were in the same heat as West Ranch and finished in fourth place.
Ethan Danforth, who placed first in the first Foothill League race, placed second in the heat (15:14.9). Senior Patrick King (15:46.8) came in 12th with teammate Alfredo De Anda (15:49.0) in 13th place.
The Grizzlies advanced to the finals with a fourth-place finish.
Daniel Rush (15:16.2) led the team with a second-place finish. Alexis Romero (15:44.9) came in 11th place with Joseph Clemons finishing in (15:53.5) finishing 22nd.
CIF-Southern Section Division 5 Boys Preliminaries
With a fifth-place finish in their heat, the Knights are headed to the finals. Hunter Romine came in 10th place with a time of 16:23.
CIF-Southern Section Division 3 Girls Preliminaries
The Centurions took home 9th-12th place in their heat to finish in second as a team.
Hannah Fredericks (18:31.7) was listed as the ninth-place finisher and finished with the exact same time as teammate Julia Pearson. Mariah Castillo (18:32.1), who finished first in all three Foothill League races, came in 11th. Castillo signed to run at TCU earlier this week.
Amaya Aguilar (18:32.1) rounded out the group in 12th place.
The Wildcats were in the same heat as Saugus and finished in fourth. Abigail Welch (18:47.8) was the team’s top finisher in 18th place.
Shelbi Schauble (18:44.6) and Sophia Hoelzel (18:47.8) finished in 19th and 20th place, respectively.
