After facing a few release delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Eternals, the 26th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is finally almost here. The highly anticipated film premieres on November 5, but if you’re looking to countdown the release with a pre-viewing celebration, there is plenty of content on Disney+ to prepare you for Eternals. Of course, all the MCU movies and series can be viewed on the streaming platform (so this is a pretty stellar time to subscribe to Disney+ if you haven’t yet), but if that collection is a little too daunting to tackle in just a few days, these recommendations should do the trick.
The Marvel movie train keeps moving right along after the successful release of “Black Widow” in July and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” in September. The latest film in the constantly expanding franchise, the Chloé Zhao-directed “Eternals,” introduces an entirely new cast of characters from the comics who have not yet been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on Nov. 5.

Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Salma Hayek, among others, star in the movie as immortal beings who’ve protected Earth since before the age of men. When dangerous creatures known as the Deviants return, they reunite to defend humanity once more. Hopefully they’ll bring with them some much-needed answers as well, like what they were doing when Thanos (Josh Brolin) decided to destroy half the living beings in the universe.
If you’re not planning on seeing “Eternals” in theaters come early November, you’ll have to wait a while for those answers though.

Eternals could be streaming on Disney+ in time for Christmas
Knowing that “Eternals” has a 45-day theatrical window means the absolute earliest the film could be added to the service is Dec. 20, which would allow families to enjoy it over the holidays. However, Disney has not yet confirmed a streaming release date for the movie. As we saw with “Shang-Chi”—which will hit Disney+ on Nov. 12 as part of a planned Disney+ Day celebration—”Eternals” might not be available as soon as the exclusivity window ends. So, it could be as late as mid-January if the movie sticks to the time table set by “Shang-Chi” or it could be even later if Disney returns to the traditional, pre-pandemic release calendar, which saw films arrive on streaming six to eight months after release.
However, once “Eternals” does begin streaming, there are a few ways you can watch it for “free.” Right now Verizon is offering six months of Disney+ free when customers sign up for select Unlimited plans before Nov. 30. Current wireless customers who switch to those plans can also get up to six months free. Meanwhile, if you already subscribe to Disney+ and want to take advantage of the offer, you can still get the promotion if you bundle your plans — meaning your paid subscription will be paused until the promotion period ends.
Alternatively, new subscribers to Amazon Music Unlimited ($7.99 per month) will receive six months of Disney+ free when they sign up for the service (offers can be redeemed through July 12, 2023, as long as one is subscribed to an eligible paid plan). Some existing and former Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can also get three months free. You can find out more information about the promotion here.
When is Eternals coming to Disney Plus?
Eternals is the most recent blockbuster to come out of Marvel Studios, but when will you be able to watch it on Disney Plus?
As the latest piece to the massive puzzle that is Phase 4 of the MCU, Eternals introduces several new characters to the series, all with new stories to tell.
Keep scrolling to learn how you can watch Eternals on Disney Plus in the UK, or even watch the trailer below to get an idea of what’s in store from the 26th MCU flick.
How to watch Eternals on Dinsey Plus?
Eternals will be debuting exclusively in cinemas on November 5, so you still have time to book tickets at your local theatre.
This does mean that you’ll be waiting around a little longer to see Eternals on your living room TV since Disney has implemented a 45-day rule, where all the company’s films will run in cinemas for 45 days before being added to the streaming service.
And while that hasn’t quite panned out with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – that film will get an early streaming release on 12 November due to Disney Plus Day – there has been no indication that Eternals will be coming over to Disney Plus any sooner than originally stated.
So if our math is right, Eternals should be available to watch on Disney Plus from December 20, all you’ll need to access it is an active Disney Plus membership.
What is Eternals about?
From what we can gather, the majority of Eternals will follow on from the events of Avengers: Endgame; after half of the population return thanks to Iron Man’s sacrifice, the event ignites the emergence of the Eternals, beings that have lived on the planet for over 7,000 years.
Eternals are tasked with protecting humanity and life from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.
And for anyone asking why we haven’t seen any Eternals pop up in previous Marvel films – they can only interfere with humankind if the Deviants are the cause, which seems to have been a point of contention amongst the team (as shown in the trailer).
Mark your calendars if you’re interested to see how this story unfolds, and head over to Disney Plus to sign up for an account if you haven’t already.
Disney Confirms Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ Will Be Released Exclusively in Theaters
The studio also reaffirmed exclusively theatrical debuts for ‘The Last Duel,’ ‘West Side Story,’ and ‘The King’s Man.’
Marvel’s Eternals will not be streaming on Disney+ the same day it hits theaters, Disney confirmed today. There had been some question over whether the highly anticipated Marvel movie would get a Disney Plus release like Black Widow when the Scarlett Johansson-led film opened in July, but that will not be the case. When Eternals hits theaters on November 5th, it will have a 45-day window before it’s available on Disney+ — meaning until January, you can only watch Eternals in a movie theater.
“Following the tremendous box office success of our summer films which included five of the top eight domestic releases of the year, we are excited to update our theatrical plans for the remainder of 2021,” said Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution. However, one upcoming Disney release will be hitting the Disney+ streaming service early: the animated film Encanto. “As confidence in moviegoing continues to improve, we look forward to entertaining audiences in theaters,” Daniel continued, “while maintaining the flexibility to give our Disney+ subscribers the gift of Encanto this holiday season.”
However, Eternals is just one of five films coming this year that will have a 45-day exclusive run in theaters. The Last Duel, Ron’s Gone Wrong, West Side Story, and The King’s Man will all receive theatrical-exclusive showings, as opposed to Encanto, which will have a 30-day theatrical run, then come to Disney+ before year’s end.
While several 2021 films like Cruella and Jungle Cruise have come to theaters and been available on Disney+’s Premier Access for an additional fee the same day, Disney looks to be moving away from this model. With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings breaking box-office records this past week, it seems that Disney has a newfound confidence that audiences will come back to the theaters for their many upcoming projects.
Is Eternals on Disney+?
Marvels Studios has released several major movies this year. Up next is Chloé Zhao’s Eternals, which is set to be a game-changer.
Never before have we seen so many new heroes on screen in the MCU. The film boasts an absolutely star-studded cast. There’s Angelina Jolie as Thena, Game of Thrones alums Richard Madden as Ikaris and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kumail Nanjani as Kingo, and many more.
Marvel has already revealed that Eternals will be releasing in theaters on November 5, 2021. And some fans may be wondering if Eternals will be available on Disney+ that same day as well. After all, with Disney+ Premier Access, we’ve seen films like Black Widow, Raya and the Last Dragon and Cruella all become available during opening weekend for an extra flat fee of $30. And other movies, like Soul and Luca, have become available on Disney+ for nothing beyond the normal subscription price.
So will Eternals be coming to Disney+ in November? Here’s what we know.
Is Eternals coming to Disney+ in November 2021?
Unfortunately, Marvel’s Eternals will not be coming to Disney+ on November 5 when the film is released in theaters. As of late this year, Disney has been moving away from releasing films on the same day on Disney+ and in theaters, thus trying to steer audiences into watching their movies in theaters. We saw this with the last Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which only opened in theaters and did not premiere on Disney+.
But eventually, Eternals will find its way onto Disney+ for subscribers at no additional cost. Shang-Chi, for example, came out in theaters on September 3, and will be available on Disney+ as a special release on November 12.
That means we could expect Eternals to hit the streaming service sometime in January or February of 2022. But if you want to avoid spoilers, you’ll definitely want to check Eternals out in theaters first if you can.
Where to watch the Marvel movie?
Phase Four of the MCU has been off to a roaring start with WandaVision, Black Widow, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and Shang-Chi. Soon, the world will get to experience the latest movie in the universe, Eternals. The real question is when is Eternals streaming free on Disney+?
There are so many questions that need to be answered when it comes to this film. How do they fit in with the others? Who will be the villain? Who will be able to connect with other members? What do the post-credit scenes mean for the future? Soon, the world will get the answers.
We saw Disney release Jungle Cruise and Black Widow day to date on Disney Premiere Access with success, but they changed the course of action with more and more theaters opening with Shang-Chi. I don’t expect them to explore the dual-release with the bigger budget films in the near future, though, due to pirating being at an all-time high.
Do you plan on checking the movie on opening night? or do you plan on waiting to see it when it comes to the streaming platform? Let us know! If you’re waiting on a streaming release, here’s what we’ve got.
Is Eternals going to stream free on Disney+?
The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is following the same path as Shang-Chi in not being released on Disney Premiere Access at the same time it hits theaters. On the bright side, when the movie does drop on Disney+, it will be included in your subscription at no extra charge.
The next question would be when? Well, if it follows the same course as Shang-Chi, we could see Eternals hit Disney+ around January of 2022. Shang-Chi hit theaters on Sept. 3 and will be coming to the streaming service on Nov. 12, so roughly two months after its release. I would expect them to follow a similar model here. If anything changes or there are any official announcements, we’ll update that here!
Eternals hits theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
Marvel’s Eternals is flying into theaters on November 5, 2021, and fans are excited to see the next movie in the franchise. After Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings performed well in theaters, shattering pandemic box office records, Disney and Marvel decided that it’s time to extend the theatrical release window for its feature films. While Eternals will show up on Disney+ in the near future, it won’t be as quickly as previous movies released in 2021.
According to the Walt Disney Company website, the theatrical release window for new movies will be a minimum of 45 days, which means the earliest fans could see Eternals on Disney+ is December 20.
Marvel’s Eternals will arrive on Disney+ eventually
Since Disney controls its releases, it’s very possible that they could extend the theatrical release beyond 45 days if the movie continues to perform well at the box office.
Then again, given the crowded box office as the holidays approach it’s more likely that they will stick to the 45 day release plan to capitalize on kids and families being home for holiday vacations.
Like Guardians of the Galaxy, Eternals is a new story with characters that aren’t as widely known as Iron Man or Captain America but for comic book fans their arrival marks a key moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Eternals are a group of heroes who arrived on earth in ancient times and defended it from the monstrous Deviants who threatened the planet and its young civilizations. Given their ability to defeat these god-like Deviants, the movie has to establish why they didn’t step in when Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half of the universe’s population.
With no new Marvel movies in 2020, it feels like we’ve been going through a big drought and things are starting to get rolling again. Just don’t plan on seeing Eternals on Disney+ right away. It could be a while.
