American Diabetes Association partners with Oakmont to present “Diabetes 101”

The American Diabetes Association presents an informative discussion on diabetes to educate Oakmont and community residents on diabetes, the importance of knowing their risk, and available programming for preventing Type 2 diabetes. This educational lecture will be given by the Prevent T2 program, a 12-month lifestyle change program designed to help people adopt healthy habits to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes is a serious disease that strikes nearly 30 million Americans including 1 in 10 people living in the Santa Clarita Valley. Senior citizens have an increased risk of the disease. The Association will provide free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, exercise demonstrations, diabetes workshops, giveaways and more. Lunch will be provided.
