Fun & Fit Gymnastics Celebrates 30 Years Invites Current & Former Students to Free Open House Gymnastics Clinic

May 4, 2018 at 7:00 pm!

Jeff Lulla, President and Founder of Fun & Fit Gymnastics opened his Santa Clarita location on January 2, 1988.  “When I first opened Fun & Fit Gymnastics it was because I loved teaching kids and making a positive difference in their lives”, says Lulla.  “I was fortunate to have the support of the Santa Clarita community and want to celebrate this milestone 30 year anniversary by inviting the public, current and former students and their children to come visit and have some fun and refreshments.  “I’m hoping that a few of those thousands of kids we have taught might visit and bring photos from when they were students.  It would be wonderful seeing everyone,” says Lulla.  “Watching the kids grow up over the years, they feel like family to me.

What makes Fun & Fit unique is their completely non-competitive teaching philosophy.  “When you have preschool or recreational classes sharing space with a competitive program the ‘vibe’ in the place changes”, says Lulla.  “I know – I used to be a competitive gymnastics coach and I felt it myself.  In a competitive environment success is restricted to the talented few and children learn “For me to win, you (others in their class or team) have to lose”.  There have been many studies showing the negative effects of competition on young children.  We only have control of our own performance.  And it is this “sense of control” that is essential to developing healthy self-esteem.  As a coach I became concerned about the majority of kids that didn’t succeed and fashioned my business to create success for every child by defining success as “Personal Best”.”  The results are clear in the long-term success of the business, and the thousands of children who have benefited from attending over the years.

In 2014, Fun & Fit Gymnastics won the “Best Gymnastics Center” award from the Signal News readers contest.  Other past awards include the Los Angeles Magazine’s “Best Kids Gymnastics” center in their Best of LA issue after visiting 130 kids gyms in Los Angeles County, as well as “Best Place for Kids to Have Fun” and “Best Place For Your Party”.

“It is very gratifying to have been given the trust of so many families over the years.  Through good times and bad, we have survived recessions, economic booms and busts, and through it all we continued to deliver a safe, fun, quality experience for the children”, says Lulla.  “I have to thank my loyal, talented and committed staff (many of whom are former students) and the parents who have witnessed the benefits their children have received for their support.”
