Mike’s Diner in Castaic, California is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. A great example of roadside vernacular art deco built in 1947, Mike’s Diner was built the same year that Highway 99 connected northern and southern California. Serving truckers for most of its history, Mike’s was “The Trucker’s Place to Stop” according to an article published in the Los Angeles Times in December 1985. The restaurant has always specialized in large portions of Mexican and American food along with breakfast. It is famous for its OV Burrito and hamburgers.
To celebrate its 70th year in operation Mike’s is throwing a party on June 24th complete with band and a classic car show.
