SCV INTERFAITH COUNCIL HOSTS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER EVENT
Local Interfaith Council Works to Bring the Community Together
The Santa Clarita Valley Interfaith Council invites all members of the community to attend their annual event in honor of National Day of Prayer. Speakers at this year’s event include a representative from Family Promise, a local group that mobilizes community faith groups in the Santa Clarita Valley to assist homeless families and helps them achieve sustainable independence; Beth Brotz of the SCV Mindful Meditation study group; and Jamshed Yazdani of the Unity Center of Santa Clarita.
This community event is free and is open to those of all faiths (or of none). It will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church of Newhall, located at 24317 Newhall Avenue, Santa Clarita, CA 91321. Refreshments will be provided.
This annual event brings together those of all faiths in order for us to pray in the manner of our various faith traditions for the leaders of our local community, our state, and the nation. The theme for this year is “Hear us…Forgive us…Heal us!” This year, it is clear that our country needs help in bringing everyone back together to work in unity for the betterment of our great nation. As Tyger White, current president of the SCV Interfaith Council says, “We need to listen to each other and work together if we have any hope of finding solutions to the division in our community, in our country, and in the world.”
