You’re Never Too Old – The Life and Tunes of International Entertainer and Composer Ruth Allen

January 13, 2019 @ 5:00 pm 5:00 pm

According the Britain’s Sun publication: “Ruth Allen originally began her career during the Blitz when she performed sold-out shows while air raid warnings echoed through London. Following the war she continued performing under the stage name Ronnie Graham, most famously at the Astor Club in Berkeley Square, Mayfair.  After impressing legendary American jazz composer Duke Ellington she was offered a contract with Columbia Records and later in life was the resident entertainer at the American bar of the Savoy in London and in a Michael Feinstein show at Carnegie Hall New York. The singer-songwriter is now set for a one-off show at the Canyon Theatre alongside her brother, London jazz pianist Alan Berry. The charity show has been billed as a ‘celebration of life’ and comes just a few days ahead of her 90th birthday. Ms Allen will perform around 30 of her own original songs while a narrator reads excerpts from her autobiography “I’ll Still Be Me.” Ticket prices vary from $35 to $20 with a senior discount available. Admission is only $12 if guests mention the Senior Center.
