College of the Canyons football lost to Cerritos College, 24-21, on the road Saturday evening.

Cougars quarterback Matt Moore played well in his second start, completing 26-of-42 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns.

He connected with Marquise Brown on a 13-yard score late in the third quarter to bring the Cougars within three, but COC didn’t score again.

Cerritos running back Kishawn Holmes ran the ball 17 times for 114 yards. He scored in the first quarter and then again early in the second quarter to give the Falcons a 14-0 lead.

Two Moore TD passes, one to Wes Fitzpatrick and the other to RB Marlow, tied the score, 14-14, at the 3:30 mark in the second quarter.

A Cerritos field goal made it 17-14 at the half.

Alonso Reeves led the Cougars with nine tackles.

COC plays Santa Monica at Cougar Stadium next Saturday.
