A flat tire – as opposed to rain-slick roadways – is believed responsible for a car crashing into a light pole Friday afternoon.

No one was injured in the traffic collision that happened shortly after 3:40 p.m. on Oak Ridge Drive and Oak Lane, near Via Princessa.

“We were dispatched for an auto into a pole,” a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department told The Signal Friday afternoon.

The driver of the car was heard explaining to one paramedic that she had a flat tire and lost control of her car, striking the light pole, causing it to fall over, partially blocking the eastbound lanes of Oak Ridge Drive, said photographer Rick McClure who photographed the response by paramedics.

The collision sparked what appeared to be a fire in the car’s engine.

“It was put out by an off-duty Los Angeles Fire Department fire captain who was passing by just after the crash,” McClure said.
