A diesel spill from a crash involving a big rig has prompted the hour-long shutdown of two northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Valencia Boulevard.
The spill described as “small” spread across 40 feet of highway following the non-injury collision of a big rig and a white pickup truck loaded with crates, Sgt. Kevin Pack of the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the lane adjacent to the slow lane.
“This is a small diesel spill, under the amount needed to notify hazmat,” Pack said, referring to hazardous materials units of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
CHP officers set up the sig alert at 10:34 a.m.
No one was hurt in the collision, Pack said.
