The Canyon High varsity girls basketball team beat Newbury Park, 53-38, on Monday in the first round of the Burroughs Optimist Tournament.
Rachel Bowers scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Canyon (3-3).
Talia Taufaasau had nine points, while Daisy Cardenas had nine points and five assists.
On Friday, the Cowboys beat Agoura High at home, 54-38.
Bowers had 18 points in that game, and Taufaasau had 12.

The Vikings won their semifinal in the Crespi Freshman Frenzy. Jake Hlywiak led the Vikings with 24 points, while Kevin Konrad added 10 rebounds.
