The Valencia High and Canyon High varsity girls basketball teams will meet in the Burroughs Magnolia Park Optimist Tournament final on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Burroughs High.

Canyon beat Eagle Rock, 51-41, in one semifinal on Friday night.

The Cowboys (6-3) overcame a 12-point halftime deficit behind Talia Taufaasau’s 17 points and four assists.

Rachel Bowers had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Daisy Cardenas had 10 points.

Valencia (7-2) beat Granada Hills, 58-39, in the other semi.

The Vikings’ stats were not immediately available.

Varsity boys soccer

Saugus 2, Van Nuys 2

The Saugus High varsity boys soccer team tied Van Nuys, 2-2, in the Brandt Tournament at Burroughs High on Friday.

For Saugus (2-2-1), Jason Hindigan scored off an assist from James Johnson, and Josh De Leon scored off an assist from Hindigan.

La Salle 57, Valencia 50

Zach Hawkins scored 17 points for Valencia (2-2) in a Simi Valley Tournament game on Friday.

Dexter Akanno followed with 14. Kyler Motoyasu had 13 rebounds.

Channel Islands 63, Trinity 30

A 29-point second quarter for Channel Islands doomed the Knights (1-5) in a Fillmore Tournament game on Friday.

Girls varsity basketball

Trinity 48, Verdugo Hills 11

Taylor Oshiro scored 18 points and dished out five assists as Trinity (3-1) advanced Friday to the consolation championship of the Northeast Valley Tournament.

Kathryn Brooks had six points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Trinity Towns had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Hannah Caddow had 11 rebounds.
