SCV Sports Report: Saugus swim sweeps Canyon

Saugus High swimmer Tanner Olson swam two automatic CIF qualifying times Thursday in the Centurions’ sweep of Canyon High at Santa Clarita Aquatic Center (Boys 118-51; Girls 116-53).

Olson won the boys 200-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 53.15 seconds, and the 100 breaststroke in 56.35 seconds.

He also swam a leg of Saugus’ winning 200 medley and 400 free relays, both of which finished in CIF consideration times.

Another member of those relays, Justin Morsch, also won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke, the second in a consideration time.

Allison Schepper doubled for the Saugus girls, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.

Teammate Viviana Raker doubled in the 50 free and 500 free, the second in a CIF consideration time (5:16.05).

Canyon High’s Alexa Skorus Neely won the 200 IM (2:08.57) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.37), both in consideration times.

Tim Lim won the 50 and 100 free for the Saugus boys.

Varsity baseball

SCCS 7, Trinity 4

Santa Clarita Christian baseball beat Trinity Classical Academy, 7-4, on Thursday at the Hart complex.

Cardinal Ryan Franchimone pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits.

SCCS’s Joe Sparks went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. AJ Caldwell and Garrett Huckabone each had an RBI for the Cardinals (6-2 overall, 2-0 in Heritage League).

Varsity softball

Albert Einstein Academy 24, Highland Hall of Northridge 3

Beatriz Panduro went 4-for-4 and Faith Pearlman hit a grand slam.

Varsity boys tennis

Saugus 13, Hart 5

The Centurions won all nine sets in singles and won four doubles sets.

Gerard Elepano and Jigar Hira swept three doubles sets 7-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Erin Pang won all three sets in singles 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.

West Ranch 18, Canyon 0

Valencia 18, Golden Valley 0

Freshman baseball

Saugus 7, Hart 6

Cody DeLaura had the game-winning hit to lift Saugus to 5-0 in Foothill League play.
